Our Story
Mushrooms are (almost) the only ingredient in the 'Madarch Cymru' shop so you could say we're obsessed with fungi!
The Mushroom Garden was started more than 20 years ago by - Cynan and June - on the smallest holding of the 'National Trust' in Nanmor, Gwynedd. Latterly joined by Arwyn and Gwenllian and now supported by Tetrim Teas and Ty Cynan's mushroom growing units in three locations in west Wales, we now have access to locally grown Lion's Mane, Shiitake and Wood Oyster mushrooms.
No chemicals or pesticides are used on the mushrooms. The mushrooms are harvested by hand. The mushrooms are dried, powdered and packaged by us.
Use the mushroom powders in a stew, risotto, pasta, stir-fry, filo pie, and the list ges on... in a soup, casserole, as a 'marinade' for meat or fish or vegetables on a barbecue...the mushroom options are endless! Lion's Mane powder can also be added to coffee, tea, smoothies, porridge.

Our mushrooms (in their various forms) have won several awards over the years: from "Great Taste" gold stars to the National Trust's "Fine Farm Foods" awards. Our mushrooms have appeared on a number of radio and television programs on S4C, Radio Cymru, BBC and ITV such as "Bwyd Epic Chris", Hairy Bikers, Countryfile and Coast and Country.
